US auto sales for August come in weaker at 16.98M sales pace

Down from 17.8 last month

The US total vehicle sales for August are coming in at 16.98M annualized sales pace. This is lower than expectations at 17.20M and lower than the 17.8B last month. 

Total light vehicles sales total 1.51 Mln units which is lower by 4.2% from last year.  Passenger car sales were down 12.6%. Light truck sales were up 2.4%.
