Canadian September retail sales

- Prior was -0.1% (revised to +0.1%)
- Ex autos prior 0.0% (revised to +0.2%)
- The revisions higher take some of the sting out of the weak ex-autos numbers.
Details:
- The largest increase was a 2.4% advance at motor vehicle and parts dealers; it was the first gain in 3 months
- Food and beverage stores -0.8% m/m
- Health and personal care stores -0.6% m/m
- Gasoline stations +0.9% m/m
- General merchandise stores +0.4% m/m
- Furniture and home furnishings -0.0% m/m
- Electronics and appliances +0.3% m/m
There isn"t much to be excited about here. Autos and gasoline were the drivers while consumers mostly cut back elsewhere. Excluding autos and gas, sales were down 0.2% m/m.
