4 week MA 248K vs 245.75K last week
The weekly US employment claims for the week of Jan 28, fell to 246K from a revised 260K last week (was 259K originally).
The continuing claims came in at 2064K vs 2063K estimate. Last week"s continuing claims were revised slightly higher to 2103k from 2100K last.
The 4-week average moved up slightly to 248K from 245.75k last week.
Fun Fact: The claims have now been below 300K for the 100th straight week.
There were no states that estimated last week. Overall, the employment picture remains healthy heading into the employment report due out tomorrow at 8:30 AM ET. The estimate for NFP is 170K with the unemployment rate at 4.7%. The ADP estimate for private payrolls came in stronger at 245K yesterday.
