Kevin O"Leary was in the running to lead the Canadian Conservative party. The leadership race is wide open after Stephen Harper"s defeat last year.

O"Leary doesn"t live in Canada or speak French but he used his persona as a ruthless businessman to curry some support. Evidently, it wasn"t enough.

Polling is challenging for the leadership race because it"s a ranked ballot. O"Leary had been a favorite at one point and had the support of around 20% of voters but his negatives were extremely high with many party members saying he would be last on their ballots.

CBC reports that he will endorse Maxime Bernier, who is also a front-runner on a small-government, less regulation, libertarian platform.
