Manufacturing and housing data on the economic calendar today

Economic data starts slow but picks up at 1400 GMT

US dollar weakness is the theme so far today but that could shift with a few economic releases due later.

The first one is probably the biggest market mover and it hits at 1345 GMT. It's the Markit US manufacturing PMI and it's expected to edge down to 52.6 from 52.9. Estimates range from 51.2 to 53.5.

At 1400 GMT, three releases hit at the same time. The first is the Richmond Fed, which is expected at +6 from +10. The second is the July new home sales report which is forecast at 580K from 592K. Housing has been a recent source of upside surprises to US data and have boosted the US dollar.

The third 1400 GMT release is August advance Eurozone consumer confidence. The consensus is for a slight improvement to -7.7 from -7.9.

There are no scheduled Fed speakers but there is a two-year Treasury note auction.

For the latest, check the economic calendar.
