Statistics NZ has issued a corrected for its consumers price index (CPI) figures for the September 2016 quarter
- CPI change in the September 2016 quarter is now 0.3% q/q (previously published at 0.2)
- CPI for the year to the September 2016 quarter is 0.4% from previously published 0.2%)
The incorrect numbers were announced on October 18. FBI director James Comey says after further investigation Stats NZ says the correction fixes a manual processing error
FWIW this will be perceived as having reduced the probability of an RBNZ rate cut (meeting coming up November 10)
