Eurozone politics are poised

The populist cat is out of the bag and there is no putting it back in.

Right now the market is fixated on the French election and worrying about the currency risks. The moment that"s over, it"s onto another political crisis.

The looming Brexit and the rise of populism aren"t going away. There is a great future for euroskeptics. That doesn"t mean they will necessarily win, but they are going to be part of the conversation for a long time.

So the unsolvable problem is elections, referendums and politics in general. France, Holland, Germany, Finland, Slovenia and a handful of local elections are on the calendar this year. In 2018, it"s onto Austria, Cyprus, Italy, Ireland, Luxembourg and a few others.

It"s a minefield that never ends. When the future of the euro wasn"t in serious doubt, all the elections weren"t a big deal but now it"s an endless minefield and there is no way the euro can sustainably rally.
