Japan spending and employment data:
I'm having a few problems with the links ... to get to this post, link: http://news.forexlive.com/!/japan-overall-household-spending-july-yy-expected-15-20160829
Unemployment rate for July, 3.0%
- expected 3.1%, prior 3.1%
Job to applicant ration for July, 1.37
- expected 1.38, prior 1.37
Overall Household spending for July, -0.5% y/y
- expected -1.5% and prior -2.2%
I think some of calendars highlight the employment data as the most important but I always pay more attention to the 'Overall Household spending'. Not that the yen is often moved bu these data, but as background info. The spending still negative y/y, but an improvement from the prior month and not as bad as expected. I guess that's a good thing for the Japanese economy but at -0.5% y/y its still nothing to get excited about.
Japan - Overall Household spending (July): -0.5% y/y (expected -1.5%)
Japan - Overall Household spending (July): -0.5% y/y (expected -1.5%)
