S&P 500 closes in on record high

S&P 500 3 points from all-time high

The S&P 500 opened 8.5 points higher to 2190.

The all-time high was 2193.81, which was set on August 15. The index is up 5% from the November lows on expectations of an easier time for corporations with a Republican-controlled Congress and Trump in the White House.

Bloomberg is out with a story today asking what corporations will do with the cash from tax breaks and a repatriation tax holiday. They believe the money will go to stock buybacks.

On the weekend, Facebook announced a $6 billion buyback.
