A midday look at the markets.
A midday look at the markets shows that the AUD and the NZD are tied at the top for the strongest currency of the day (accumulating the % gains of the currencies vs the other majors). In fact, the race is so even, the AUDNZD is unchanged from Friday. Let"s just say, both currencies are in sync.

As for the USD, it remains mixed with losses against the NZD and AUD, gains against the GBP and JPY, and near unchanged vs. the EUR, CHF and CAD. Compared to earlier in the day, the AUD and NZD have risen by an additional 0.1% against the greenback. The dollar has gotten 0.1% stronger on the back of higher yields (and stocks). Those are the major changes in the NY session.
In other markets:
- Spot gold has moved sharply lower by -$13.89 to $1254.38 (vs $1263.48 earlier)
- WTI Crude is trading at $48.69 (vs $49.16 earlier)
- US yields are higher. The 2 year is up 2 BP (was up 1.1 BP) . The 5-year is trading at 1.852%, up 3.7 BP (was up 1.4 BP). The 10 year yield is trading at 2.3288%, up 4.8 BP (was up 1.2 BP at the start of the day).
- US stocks are higher with the S&P up 6 points or 0.25%. The Dow is trading unchanged. The Nasdaq leads the way with gains of 44.5 points or 0.74% ahead of FB and Apples earnings later this week (both are making new highs).
